Communications – Secure and commercial communications systems
Propulsion – Engines, propellers, Integrated Propulsion Systems, machinery controls, etc
Outsourced labour – Extensive experience in hiring UK and overseas labour, analysing and negotiating rates and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and local agreement
Steelwork Erection – outsourcing the ship build steel working requirement
Electrical Installation – outsourcing containment, cable, equipment, termination and check-wire requirement
Pipework – outsourcing the pipework installation
Paint and Access – reduction of costs
Raw materials – with demanding specifications and critical programme demands
Major Sub-Contract closure and reconciliation – to agree the final cost account and ensure validity of ongoing costs
General Support – Training of the crews, spares and provisioning, base support
A PFI contract was let to provide the MoD (RAF) in-flight refuelling and transportation aircraft and support infrastructure. This was a +£10billion contract and was delivered by 5 industrial partners (EADS, Rolls Royce, Thales, Cobham and VT (Babcock) who set up a JV organisation (Airtanker) to deliver the requirement. I led the set-up of the contracts team which put in place the contracts (primarily with the JV Partners) and personally led a number of major areas which were:
